About volunteering at the Stroke Foundation

We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds, skills and abilities. You'll be matched to a role that suits your skills, interests and abilities and receive training and ongoing support in your volunteer role. At the Stroke Foundation we ensure that all volunteers have clearly-defined roles, rights and responsibilities.

Benefits of volunteering at the Stroke Foundation include:

  • enjoying the sense of reward that comes from making a difference
  • gaining new skills
  • making new friends
  • having fun
  • changing the lives of stroke survivors, families and carers
  • educating the community about Stroke

Our volunteers are managed in line with the National Standards for Volunteer involvement in not-for-profit organisations, which was developed by Volunteering Australia.

There is a screening process for all prospective volunteers which includes the completion of our Volunteer Expression of Interest form, an interview (either by phone or in person), reference checks, and for some roles a Police Check and/or Working with Children Check. We also have a mandatory induction program that all new volunteers must complete to ensure they are well trained and confident in their roles.
